community participatory research
We train and support individuals and organisations to carry out qualitative, action-oriented research on issues relevant to them. Participants gain skills and confidence to undertake small-scale studies of aspects of their daily or political reality, broadening and deepening their understanding of the topics under investigation.
Community participatory research values local knowledge and challenges the concept that research and consultation is best done by external agencies. Such projects aim to raise awareness of issues and allow findings to be discussed with decision makers and other relevant local players, influencing practice through evidence-based recommendations.
